The first person to present was Nichol, her presentation was on La chevre and its American remake Pure Luck.  La chevre was directed by Francis Veber in nineteen eighty-one. La chevre means goat in French. The accident-prone daughter of a Parisian tycoon disappears in Mexico. Police investigations and those of private eye Gerard Depardieu fail. The psychologist of the father's firm suggests sending back Depardieu with Pierre Richard, a bumbling, klutzy accountant even more accident-prone than the missing girl.

The American remake Pure Luck was directed by Nadia Tass. Sheila Kelley plays the rich man's daughter, Proctor is played by Martin Short, and the private eye is played by Danny Glover.  The scene we watched was of a room with 12 chairs in it. Glover purposely breaks one of the chair legs as he wants to see if his presumptions about Proctor are correct.  Glover turns out to be correct as Proctor falls to the floor.

The next person to go was Allison.  She did her paper on “Three Men and a Cradle” and its American remake “Three Men and a Baby”.  Three men and a cradle is a French comedy directed by Coline Serreau in nineteen eighty-five. Pierre is played by Roland Giraud, Michel is played by Michel Boujenah. Jacques is played by Andre Dussollier, Sylvia is played by Philippine Leroy Beaulieu. The movie tells the story of three bachelors who live in a luxurious Paris flat, where life is an endless round of parties. One of the three, a flight attendant, flies off to the Far East, telling his flat mates that a package will be dropped off for him. The next day, a basket with an infant girl is delivered to their door. A note says this is the love child of the absent attendant. The two bachelors decide to try to care for the child, which involves getting messy as they change her diapers. Then there are trips to the pharmacist to learn about baby formulas. The baby cries at night, the bachelor’s lives are of course disturbed.
The presenter made some key points about the movie:
·         Left wondering about what is going to happen in the end.
·         More pessimistic towards life.
·         Drug scene hard to comprehend
The American remake Three men and a baby was directed by Leonard Nimoy in 1987.  It starred Tom Selek as Peter, Steve Guttenberg as Micheal, Ted Danson as Jack and Nancy Travis as Sylvia Bennington. Three bachelor friends - architect Peter, artist Michael, and actor Jack are sharing an apartment in Manhattan. After Jack goes filming in Turkey his two roommates find his baby daughter which Jack doesn't know about. She was left outside their door. The two are left to look after the baby, and realize how difficult this can be.
Key points:
·    Ending is different then three men and a cradle
·    Jealous of one another’s materialism

Jada Edmondson spoke on La Jetee and its American remake Twelve Monkeys. Chris Marker directed La Jetee in 1962. The basic plot is that earth lies ruined in the aftermath of a nuclear war. The few surviving humans begin researching time travel, in hopes of sending someone back to the pre-war world in search of food, supplies, and hopefully some sort of solution to mankind's imminent demise. The protagonist is a man whose retention of a single, vague childhood memory (that of witnessing a murder on the jetty at Orly airport) is the basis for his being chosen to travel back in time.
Main points
·         Film had still frames like storyboard
·         Subtitles pose a problem because of small frames

Twelve monkeys is directed by Terry Gilliam in 1995. The film was made in Philadelphia, PA and Baltimore, MD. The film stars Bruce Willis as James cole.  Madeleine Stowe as Dr. Kathryn Railly, Brad Pitt as Jeffrey Goines and Christopher Plummer as Dr. Leland Goines.
Main Points:
·    Protagonist escaped memory
·    Concepts are legit.

Candice Benfield went next. Her presentation was on Three Men and a Cradle (3 hommes et un couffin) and its American remake Three men and a baby.
Main points:
·    The Babies grow drastically for such a short period of time and it’s unrealistic.
·    Drug scene in French version leaves people wondering
·    Endings are different
·    Lacks character development in French version
·    Funniest parts are when men are trying to care for child.

Last to go was Ben Fennell he spoke on Ringu directed by Hideo Nakata and Ring directed by Gore Verbinski. The plot is that after the death of main woman’s cousin Tomoko, reporter Reiko hears stories of a videotape that kills everyone who sees it exactly one week after viewing. At first she discounts the rumors, but when she learns that Tomoko's friend (who watched the video with her) died at exactly the same time, she begins to investigate. After viewing the tape herself, strange things start happening, and so she teams up with her ex-husband to try to stop the death clock that has once again begun ticking.

Main points:
·         Social criticism/power of rumors
·         Asia densely packed population
·         Four books movies were made from such as Ring and Spiral
